Strategy for interactively demonstrating the notion of decay

In this assignment, I tried to integreate vegetation and the building as a notion of decay. What I did with the building was that I have blended moss with the wall texture. so that it looks greenary in the texture. Also, I have covered the base of the building with the grass which I was trying to indicate invasion of vegetation to the building. Also, I have planted more trees in the decayed building than the original one.

Unique observation for week 4

In today's lecture, I was inspired by falling off paint texture, broken glasses. As a result, I could enhance the texture quality of decay building. I think I can add more detailed texture on the building. And, I thought more about the colour of the texture, and how I might blend different texture together.

Unique observation week 3

In this lecture, I learnt new things. Moss growing on the wall, falling off paints, corrode on cabinets. Until now, I was only considering about the structure failure. But after this lecture, I was also considered about the decay of furniture and living stuff in the house. I also thought about how the things will messed up and splashed all over the place.

It nicely reflected the impact of natural disasters.

I chose this because it had nice transitions between the shots.

I chose this because of nice interaction clip between the transition.

I chose this because it had nice change of scene at the beat of sound.

I chose this because it showed well about collision of buildings.

Unique observation for week 2

It was interesting to see the actual textures of three houses, and I was able to get some sense of which texture I might use on Barcelona pavilion. Also, it was interesting to see how the metal bars look in the concrete. I grabbed some idea about how I will make the concrete collision.

Research on materials

I've searched about concrete, marble and glass. Firstly, Concrete is a composite material composed of coarse granular material (the aggregate or filler) embedded in a hard matrix of material (the cement or binder) that fills the space among the aggregate particles and glues them together. Secondly, Marble is a non-foliated metamorphic rock composed of recrystallized carbonate minerals, most commonly calcite or dolomite. Geologists use the term "marble" to refer to metamorphosed limestone; however, stonemasons use the term more broadly to encompass unmetamorphosed limestone. Marble is commonly used for sculpture and as a building material. Thirdly, Glass is an amorphous (non-crystalline) solid material that exhibits a glass transition, which is the reversible transition in amorphous materials (or in amorphous regions within semicrystalline materials) from a hard and relatively brittle state into a molten or rubber-like state.

Three selected houses

House at bordeaus
The building is composed of three houses superimposed over each other: three floors of a completely different nature and clear visual contrast. the lower ground floor is dug into the rocky hillside and is available in several caves, the plant is in the midst of glass and transparent, and the top floor is divided into several rooms.

 Rudin House
Located in a village at the limit of France and Switzerland (Leymen), was one of the earliest works of Herzog & de Meuron, conducted for the art gallery owner Hanspeter Rudin.
Barcelona Pavilion
This building was used for the official opening of the German section of the exhibition. It is an important building in the history of modern architecture, known for its simple form and its spectacular use of extravagant materials, such as marble, red onyx and travertine.

Unique observation week 1

It was interesting to see how buildings and pathway decays after people are disappeared.
The vegetation invasion and corrode on material will cause collapse of the building. From this lecture, I was able to think about some possible ways to show how the buildings decay, cracks on concrete, and corrode on metal.

Unique Observation for Week 6

In today's lecture, we learnt about flow graph. It was really great feature in Cryengine editor, because it allows us to create a command to make changes in real-time. There were so many functions in flow-graph that i wasn't sure of, but if I'm able to learn fair bit of flow-graph, I think I can create more features on my island.

Strategy for the concealing and the revealing of your letter / number combination

For my letter and number, I have chosen 10 as my last student number is '0', and 'N' for last letter for my last name. On my island, I'm trying to put these features in 5 different way. Firstly, I have put 10 birds flying around the terrain. Secondly, I have created a road which is shaped in letter 'N'. Thirdly, I have placed a trees in order of 'N' shape in 10 different places. Fourthly, I have put '10' clouds up in the sky where raining feature is placed on terrain. Lastly, I have created a terrain that is shaped in '10' in my island.

Unique Observation for week 5

In today's lecture, we've learnt about 'The sublime'. I've learnt that external features in landscape, such as, sky, weather, fogs, can create a distinctive mood in the landscape. In my island, I've figured out that by changing material of the 'sky' and changing 'time of day', I'll be able to create different mood on my island.

Country of Origin : South Korea
Description : This landscape has great combination of water and island. The greenery vegetation and beach sand combines well to show great scenery. Terrains are not too dynamic, but it has dynamic cutting edges.

Customising The Editor (Week 1)

1. On the tool bar, I would like to customize and put 'Time of Day', because it's the most useful tool to use to change colours and feeling of the environment

2. I put 'Config Spec' to medium, because the editor runs smoothly on medium spec on my computer.

3. I would customise my 'Grid' to 1mm, because, it's easier to place entities more accurately.

4. In the editor, I put sound as 'mute', because I don't need sound until sound feature is in my terrain.

5. On tool bar, I would put 'save' button, because it is important to make saves to prevent from losing work from crash.

Viewports

1. By pressing 'Ctrl + G', you are able to move around terrain as a game character, and test out objects that are placed on terrain.

2. By Pressing 'F1', you can see terrains and objects in lines.

unique observation(week 1)

I, new user to the cryengine, personally think that cryengine is a great tool which allows create real-time environment in a detail. I still have a lot to learn, but, so far, I was amazed with this particular program that how much we can do in this program.

Getting Started And Folder Structure (Week 1)

1. In the main cry engine folder, there are two folders(Bin 32, Bin 64) for opening the editor. Depend on your 'BIT' of your windows, you can open editor with either one of these folders.

2. In order to open the sandbox, you must have rest of all the other folders, not just Bin folder.

3. In the folder called 'Game', all the textures, object files are stored in this folder.

Overview Of The CryENGINE 3 Sandbox User Interface (Week1)

1. By Right-Clicking on toolbar, you can customise your own toolbar with tools that are used most of the time.

2. 'Time of the Day' allows you to change color, contrast, saturation of each environment entities. Also, it can be done in different times of the day.

3.  When you press 'Ctrl + G', it changes to game mode. In this mode, you are able to test out terrains and features

4. On the right-top corner of the perspective bar, there is search bar which ignores other features and shows one specific feature when certain object is typed.

5. By right-clicking perspective bar, you can change the view of the screen, such as, wire frames and point mode.

6. Bottom of the screen there is 'speed' which various numbers can be typed from 1 to 10. It changes speed of the camera scroll in sandbox.

7. On the right-side of the screen, there is a rollupbar which contains Terrains, Layers, and Objects. From this bar, you're able to modify the sandbox features easily.

8. Clicking on the menu bar 'Terrain -> Texture', you can edit textures by layers.

9. Clicking on 'Snap to grid', it creates grid on terrain which allows you to move objects by size of the squares on grid, depends on numbers u set on grid setting.

10. Clicking 'Config Spec', it shows menu of very high, high, medium, low; depends on condition of your computer. It allows to run sandbox in various graphics.
